Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce

Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce is a Southern favorite.

Top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and prepare to go to heaven!


Ingredients for Pudding:

1/4 c. melted butter

3/4 c. sugar

2 eggs

2 c. milk

pinch of salt

1 tsp. vanilla

4 thick slices of French Bread

1/2 c. raisins

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat eggs well with mixer.  Add sugar, salt, melted butter and milk together with mixer on medium speed.  Add vanilla and beat just a little to mix it in.   Stir in raisins.

Cut bread into 1/2 inch cubes and add to mixture, stirring gently.  Make sure bread is covered.  Pour into loaf pan and bake for 50 minutes.  Serve with Bourbon Sauce.


Ingredients for Bourbon Sauce:

1/2 c. butter

1 c. sugar

1/4 c. water

1 egg (beaten with whisk)

1/3 c. Bourbon

Melt butter in small saucepan, over medium heat.  Add sugar and water.  Cook, stirring constantly for 2 minutes.  Gradually add butter and sugar to beaten egg, beating constantly with whisk.  Slowly stir in Bourbon.
