Homemade biscuits for breakfast is the ultimate “comfort” food!  Put a little butter and jam on them……oh my.

This biscuit recipe makes 3 dozen.  You can freeze them and cook them fresh for breakfast!

Ingredients:

7 1/2 c. flour

12 level tsp. baking power

1 Tbs. salt

3 Tbs. sugar

1 1/3 c. shortening

3 1/4 c. milk

 

Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.  Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add milk, all at once.  Mix until dough forms a ball.  Turn dough out on floured surface and knead 10-12 times.  Roll out to 3/4 inch thickness.  Cut with 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter.

Place on ungreased baking sheet and freeze.  When biscuits have frozen, they may be stored in a plastic bag in the freeze until needed.

To bake frozen biscuits, place on lightly greased baking sheet.  Bake at 475 degrees for 12 – 15 minutes.  Makes 3 – 3 1/2 dozen.

NOTE:  If you are not freezing them…….bake at 400 degrees for 10 – 12 minutes!
