Peach Cobbler is a favorite summer dish.
Fresh peaches are wonderful and they really make this cobbler delicious! Nutmeg give this cobbler the extra special touch.
Fresh peaches make this cobbler extra special. But, you can use canned peaches in this recipe. It will still taste quite good. You can make this cobbler all year long with either canned or frozen peaches.
2 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. water
6 – 8 fresh peaches depending on size of peach ( large can of peaches can be substituted)
1 c. sugar
Mix flour, shortening and water as for pie crust. Divide into thirds. Roll out first third of dough and line baking dish.
Put in layer of fruit and sprinkle with sugar. Dot butter over sugar and sprinkle nutmeg lightly. Top with second strip of rolled out dough. Add second layer of fruit. Sprinkle with sugar and top with butter and nutmeg.
Top with last rolled strip of dough. Sprinkle with sugar and top with butter and nutmeg.
Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Serves 8.
A little whipped cream or ice cream as topping will always be delicious!
